In a recent op-ed, New York Farm Bureau called on Governor Kathy Hochul to fully fund Healthy School Meals for All in the upcoming state budget. Universal school meals alleviate child hunger and provide relief to families struggling to make ends meet.
This policy also helps New York’s farmers. A permanent, statewide free school meals for all program would expand Farm to School, bring stability to New York’s farms, and provide more nutritious, locally-produced food to cafeterias across the state.
